Travel and accommodation

Participants are required to make their individual arrangements for travel.

Genoa can be easily reached by car, train (both the Piazza Principe and Brignole stations serve the city center) and air (the nearest airport being Cristoforo Colombo, located only a few kilometers from the city center).

In principle, participants have to make their own accommodation arrangements. The summer school team is, however, obviously available to provide advice and can be contacted at

The area surrounding the summer school venue offers a wide range of accommodation options, including hostels and hotels.

The following solutions, among the many existing alternatives, are highlighted due to the fact that they are reasonably priced and conveniently located at a walking distance from the area where teaching will take place. Please contact them directly to enquire about availability and cost:

In addition, we have secured, on a strictly “first come-first served” basis, 15 places in a guesthouse ran by ALFA, the Regional Authority for Employment, Education and Accreditation (8 apartments: 1 triple, 2 single, 5 double) from 26 August to 8 September (13 nights in total).
The guest house, whose official name is “Residenza Santa Maria delle Grazie – La Nuova Casa Paganini”, is located in Piazza S. Maria della Passione, a mere 14 minutes (by foot) to the summer school venue, in the heart of Genoa’s renowned historic district.

The cost per night is Euro 20,00 inclusive of linen, towels and cleaning service.
Participants willing to take advantage of this opportunity will have to make it clear as soon as their application is accepted and terms and conditions will be provided.
Please note that the guesthouse is located in a pedestrian area with no possibility for car access!
